Completing an appraisal report depends on the assignment's complexity, the type of aircraft, the total time on the airframe, and any additional research required. As a general guideline, certified appraisals are typically completed within 1–2 workdays, and USPAP-compliant appraisals within 2–3 workdays after inspection and receipt of records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us at appraisals@oaktreeaviation.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Completing an appraisal report typically depends on the report's complexity, the type of subject aircraft, the total time on the airframe, and other items that may require additional research. Typically, between 1-2 work days for certified appraisals, and 2-3 work days for USPAP-compliant appraisals

The answer is yes. The Professional Aircraft Appraisers Organization requires that all aircraft appraisals be accompanied by an on-site inspection. This requirement adds credibility and professionalism to our reports.

  1. Please make all airframe logbooks available from the aircraft's first service entry in its factory-new state. Please advise as soon as possible if any logbooks are unavailable for inspection or if any shop logbooks are kept at a different location.
  2. Engine logbooks: if the engines were overhauled in the field or by an engine shop, we will need all engine logbooks from when the engines were factory new or remanufactured. If the engines are factory new or factory remanufactured and have not been field-overhauled, we typically require only the current engine logbooks from the time of purchase.
  3. Provide all FAA Form 337s reflecting STC installations, major repairs, avionics installations, or airframe/engine modifications.
  4. Provide documentation reflecting the last exterior paint and interior work completed. These items are often, but not always, reflected in the airframe logbooks.
  5. Ensure access to the aircraft’s FAA Airworthiness and Registration Certificates at the time of inspection.
  6. If the airframe and/or engines are heavily modified, please provide the original costs of all modifications, including installation, as this information directly affects the current value of the aircraft and engines.
  7. If your aircraft and/or engines/APU are on a progressive maintenance program, please provide a current maintenance status report from your maintenance provider that shows the last completed and upcoming inspection events for the airframe, engines, accessories, and any time- or life-limited items or parts.
  8. If your aircraft is on any OEM “service by the hour” (SBH) program for the airframe, components, parts, avionics, or engines, please provide a copy of the service contract and OEM contact information so we can verify that the plan is current for valuation purposes.

Certified” refers to the appraiser’s credentials. USPAP refers to the appraisal standard used to develop and report the value. A USPAP-compliant appraisal is designed to be defensible and audit-ready for high-reliance uses such as lending, legal matters, and estates.
